A trucking career offers many benefits; a flexible work schedule, paid travel, and a constant change of scenery to name a few. One perk that I’m personally fond of is that truckers are able to bring their pets to work. Below you can find a list of companies that currently have a pet friendly policy.

Not all trucking companies are created the same. Pet policies differ from company to company.
A.D Transport Express: Subject to application and approval. No vicious breeds. No deposit. A.D. Transport Express: Subject to application and approval. No vicious breeds. No deposit.
Andrus Transportation: No specifics given by the company
Arnold Transportation: No specifics given by the company
Butler Transport: One dog, up to 25 lbs.
CalArk: One small dog, with $300 pet deposit. Payable in installments.
Celadon Group: No specifics given by the company
Con-Way: One dog or cat per person. No vicious breeds (Pit bull, Rottweiler, etc). $500 pet fee. 1 penny per mile withheld to discourage over-idling, refunded at the end of each month if drivers do not over-idle.
Covenant Transport: After training, pets are allowed up to a maximum weight of 50 lbs (can be 2 dogs at 25 lbs each, etc.). $500 pet policy fee.
Crete Carriers: No specifics given by company.
Earl Henderson: No specifics given by company.
Giltner, Inc.: Non-refundable cleaning fee of $500, payable in installments.
H & R Transport: Pets welcome, must remain in the truck on company or customer property.
Heyl Truck Lines: Small dog, no aggressive breeds, dogs only. There is a $500 initial deposit. Must be on a leash or in the truck when at shippers/receivers/company facilities.
H.O. Wolding: One cat or one dog allowed, $500 deposit for pets under 35 pounds, $1000 for heavier animals (payable in installments.) Pet must remain in truck on customer or company property, and must be caged while truck is in motion. Pet’s rabies shots record must be provided. Cats must be de-clawed.
H & M Trucking: All pets are allowed provided they are not aggressive, maximum of 2 pets. $250 deposit, payable over 10 weeks.
Hogan Transport: Dogs Only. $200 non-refundable pet fee (payable in installments). Copies of pets shot record must be kept on the truck. Aggressive breeds are prohibited. Pets must remain in the truck at company or customer facilities. Any additional repair costs over $200 will be charged to the driver.
Interstate Distributor Co.: Interstate allows a maximum of 2 pets in a truck, only for the dry van fleet, not for reefer drivers. You will sign a Pet Agreement prior to having the Pet(s) on the truck. There are restrictions on the pets that are allowed. They do have space at their yards for your four-legged passengers to stay while you are inside completing business, rather than leaving them in the truck.
J.B. Hunt: Dogs up to 60 lbs, non-aggressive breed. Shots documented. $300 deposit.
Jim Palmer Trucking: Open pet policy, no breed restrictions or deposits. Eligible after CDL school and training, around 3 months total.
Knight Transportation: After completing training and logging 30,000 miles. Pets under 50 lbs, no aggressive breeds. $400 deposit required, $200 is refundable.
LTI Trucking Services: Subject to approval, 60 lb weight limit.
May Trucking Company: One dog or cat allowed, no size or breed restrictions. $650 deposit for riding with pets, $150 due up front, the remainder in installments. $500 will be refunded when pet is no longer on the truck, barring excessive damage.
Melton Truck Lines: Any dog under 50 pounds or less. No pit bulls. $750 refundable deposit, paid in installments for 20 paychecks.
Miller Truck Lines: Copy of all vaccinations required. 15 lb maximum weight. $1000 deposit required to offset future cleaning and damage repair. Pets cannot be left unattended for extended periods of time, nor be allowed to remain in the truck while parked in the yard or shop area.
Navajo Express: Navajo allows your pets to ride with you, assuming that it doesn’t compromise your safety while operating the vehicle
National Carriers: National carriers allows dogs for a fee.
Ozark Motor Lines: 1 dog or cat, non-vicious breed, under 50 lbs. $200 non-refundable deposit. Copy of shot records required.
P & S Transportation: Pets are welcome at no extra charge. No restrictions, any pet can go.
Paper Transport, Inc.: No more than two pets are to ride at a time, a form will need to be filled out. Periodic truck inspections will be performed to ensure the equipment is not being abused. A kennel or comparable restraining device is required and all pets are required to be restrained while truck is in motion. Any and all customer restrictions and/or pet specific policies are to be adopted by PTI employees while on customer property.
Paschall Truck Lines (PTL): No specifics given by the company
Pride Transport: No specifics given by the company
Prime, Inc.: The pet policy provides a weight limit of 30 pounds and requires a refundable pet deposit. The deposit can be paid in full up front or financed over a 6 week period.
Quest Global, Inc.: $500 non-refundable pet deposit.
R.E. Garrison: 2 dog limit, no pet deposit.
Roehl Transport: Application and approval required. $650 total pet fee, $400 is a refundable deposit. Dogs less than 60 pounds and cats are allowed, no other creatures. Pit bulls, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chow, Wolf hybrids not allowed. Animal must be spayed or neutered. Pet carrier and proof of shots required. Roehl has installed special waste receptacles and created pet run areas at their terminals.
Shaffer Trucking: Drivers are allowed to have a dog or cat on the truck that weighs less than 60 pounds.
Southern Refrigerated Transport: $500 non-refundable fee, deducted $50 per week.
Stevens Transport: Pet policy is an approved application, based on size and breed, and shot records.
SuperService: No specifics given by the company.
Titan Transfer: No specifics given by the company.
Total Transportation: No specifics given by the company.
Transport America: No specifics given by the company.
United Road: Eligible to bring a pet after 6 months solo driving.
U.S. Xpress: One dog or cat, NO aggressive breeds, $500 non-refundable deposit (deductible from paycheck in $50 payments), copies of pet’s shot records must be sent in to the safety department and a copy kept on the truck at all times, pets must be kept on leash at all times when outside of truck, pets must remain in truck when on company or customer property, and must be removed from truck prior to taking truck in for servicing.
USA Truck: Will have a pet policy January 1, 2016. No further details given.
Waller Truck: Eligible to bring a pet at the start of employment.
Watkins-Shepard: 1 dog per driver, $500 deposit, no size limits. Eligible after probation period, 90 days for recent grads 30 days for drivers with over 6 months experience.
Werner Enterprise: No breed or size restrictions. One dog or one cat. $250 deposit, $5 per week fee. Shots must be kept up to date.
Western Express: One dog or cat, NO aggressive breeds, $500 non-refundable deposit (deductible from paycheck in $50 payments), copies of pet’s shot records must be sent in to the safety department and a copy kept on the truck at all times, pets must be kept on leash at all times when outside of truck, pets must remain in truck when on company or customer property, and must be removed from truck prior to taking truck in for servicing.
